I have worked as a one-to-one counselor privately and with children at local Primary and Senior Schools.  I understand how important it is to find the right counselor for yourself but particularly when it is for your child.  I offer a no-obligation half-hour free-of-charge consultation so you can come and meet me and have a chat.

Group Counselling

I have worked and led therapeutic art groups with charities and other organizations.  These have been attended by children and adults who have mental health, physical, and learning difficulties. Group sessions usually run for 90 minutes and cost from £60.

I aim to run small Building Resilience workshops from The Potting Shed for children in key stage 2 from January 2025 - Please refer to the projects page.

Art Tuition

Over many years I have run various art workshops and art clubs within local Schools.  I've organized art exhibitions and competition events for groups such as Scouts, Brownies, local Churches, and Surrey Libraries.  I teach drawing at Tobias School of Art and therapy and lecture on how to manage group theraputic work.  Please refer to the projects page for my current art workshops.  I sometimes work for different studios and prices for their courses may be available directly from them.  I have also worked with children to help them gain art scholarships for senior schools such as Mayfield School and Lingfield College. My Approach

“Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” – Henry Ward Beecher

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners. Additionally, I hold full insurance coverage and possess a DBS certificate. In my practice, I work closely with a supervisor to ensure that all groups and private client work adhere to BACP safeguarding guidelines.

I studied Textile Design at University and whilst bringing up three children I became a practising artist. As an artist, I understood how important art was to my well-being and how much I missed the process of creativity if I hadn't practiced it for a while. I could lose time and come away feeling more centered.  Later when running art lessons I started to notice how art gave children access to emotions and expression in a new way and therefore decided to train as a Transpersonal art counsellor.

Transpersonal counselling was developed by American psychologist, Abraham Maslow in the 1960s. The term 'transpersonal' means 'beyond the personal', with the aim to explore human growth and empower people to discover a deep and more enduring essential whole self.  This holistic approach is person-centered and aims to balance the spiritual, social, intellectual, emotional, physical, and creative elements of each individual.

Sometimes we forget to look for clues as to what we are feeling from our bodies and I work with clients to focus on body awareness.  To this aim my practice may incorporate mindfulness and breathwork.
